| Older buildings in Charlotte often get in the way of the wrecking ball, but the owners of the former Mecklenburg Furniture building on Providence Road see its potential for multiple uses. For decades a favorite of the tony Myers Park crowd, Mecklenburg Furniture, has been closed for more than a year. Owner Thies Realty & Mortgage is asking the county to change it from a showroom to more than 43k SF of office, retail, and restaurant space. Theis officials declined comment. Apublic hearing on a rezoning is set for later this month. |
