We caught up with Greer & Walker senior tax manager Tim Theesfeld after his firm's recent tax seminar at the Charlotte Marriott Executive Park hotel to ask him about a bit more about protesting your commercial property taxes, a subject touched upon during the seminar. Tim has some recommendations : 1) If you even think you might want to protest, do it early and correctly. Don't procrastinate. 2) Keep all your correspondence with the tax office and any auditors?including envelopes. 3) Don't assume that what you are told by the tax office is accurate. Investigate and verify. 4) Maintain accurate records of your property and update regularly. |
