| Building new apartments is one thing, but improving the existing stock is also a worthwhile goal, according to the City of Charlotte. And the City just announced two grant programs: One is for apartment facade renovations, paying up to half of the cost (within certain limits) of making apartment properties better looking (and giving citizens the opportunity to watch paint dry). The other grant will reimburse up to half the cost of security-oriented improvements, such as cameras, lighting, and locks. The City's business corridor recruiter Chris Hemans tells us that he expects about 20 to 30 applications for each program. |
