CAROLINA COURSE HAS NEW OWNER

Warrior Custom Golf has acquired its fifth Carolina golf course, the Whispering Woods Golf Club about 80 miles east of Charlotte (as the golf ball flies, provided you've got a Superman-like stroke). The California company, according to director of investor relations Walter Bolen, is looking to extend its market penetration in the Carolina market, which has lush, interesting terrain, and a climate that golfers are fond of. "Whispering Woods has upside potential for rounds played and revenue growth," Walter says. (All work and no golf make Jack a dull executive, after all.) With the acquisition, its price undisclosed, the company is getting an 18-hole, par 70 course by Ellis Maples, renowned golf course designer in the Southeast who did about 70 courses during his lifetime.
