A SHOT IN THE ART

The group which promotes such organizations as the Folk Society, Discovery Place, and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art (where Niki de Saint Phalle?s mirrored Firebird, above, is prone to roost) is having its annual fundraiser. The Charlotte's Arts & Science Councilhopes to bring in $7.3M this year, about the same as last year.

Noon art blasts at The Charlotte Observer this week included a performance by Stay Tuned (partially pictured above) an ad-hoc quintet of pickers and grinners culled from the Charlotte Folk Society. The group was hoping to raise awareness (and money) to help the ASC meet its goal.
