A RIDE AT RIVERWALK

A sweeping, $600M mix of homes, retail, and commercial space is taking shape by the Catawba River in Rock Hill, SC, about 20 minutes south of Charlotte. Riverwalk is being touted as a ?lifestyle development? just off I-77 at Cherry Road. But you might want to wear a helmet.

 

It's the only large-scale project we know of on the local front that will include a ?velodrome,? a 250-meter competitive cycling track in the heart of the project. Watch those strollers, Lance. Cincinnati-based project owner and developer The Assured Group has allied itself with the City of Rock Hill and USA Cycling to coordinate cycling events that will be hosted several times a year in the park-like town center. About 400 acres of the 1,000-acre Riverwalk will be residential, including 2,050 single-family homes, apartments, and condos. Homebuilders Saussy Burbank  and Evans Coghill are set to begin construction on their first homes in July. A 315-acre industrial park would incorporate up to 4.2M SF  of manufacturing, assembly and warehouse facilities. The remaining 286 acres would include about 1M SF of retail, office, and  civic uses. Cushman & Wakefield|Thalhimer and Red Rock Development are the industrial brokers for Riverwalk. CW|T is also handling office brokerage.
