Ben Stone, who has led Station North Arts & Entertainment District Inc for nearly five years, will leave the group April 9 to become director of arts and culture at Smart Growth America. Station North's board has assembled a search committee to appoint an acting executive director and conduct a national search for the organization's next executive director.
Under his guidance, Station North has led several creative placemaking efforts. They include mural project Open Walls Baltimore and Korean and African-American performance arts festival Bmore Seoul to Soul. The area is home to a number of new and active real estate developments, including artist incubator OpenWorks, the conversion of the Parkway Theatre and the conversion of the former Load of Fun gallery into Motor House, an office and maker space (pictured).
