Bowman Consulting’s Jon Kraft takes an annual deep sea trip with five buddies. He nabbed this 70-pound white marlin in 2012 along the Gulf Stream, 60 miles off Cape Hatteras, NC. The ecstatic grin, he says, owes to the fact that he was the first of the competitive bunch to pull a fish on board for a photo opp. After his Annapolis branch for the land planning, civil engineering, and survey company turned in its best year yet, he’s hoping 2014’s fishing outlook falls in line with the year’s business prospects.

Colliers’ Steve Weiss showed us two false albacore he caught in October during his 13th Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby. (They're real fish, despite the name.) Steve has scored a few daily first place prizes over the years at the annual, month-long event, though these good-looking gents didn't get it done. He’s mostly a saltwater guy now, but Steve grew up freshwater fishing, flying in his Dad’s small plane to connect with amphibious planes and then on to remote fishing camps in Northern Ontario.

Pinkard Properties prez Katherine Pinkard Bowers and Birchwood Capital Partners’ Bethany McEvoy prove fishing isn’t just a man’s game. They reeled in these rockfish last April just south of Baltimore in the Chesapeake Bay during a gathering of next-gen leaders trip that Bethany hosted.

KBE Building Corp’s Kristen Schrader caught this big boy off Chesapeake Beach during the Associated Builders & Contractors Baltimore chapter tournament, also last April.

BECO Management’s Roberta Liss tells us her firm has just installed a 1,000-gallon saltwater fish tank in the lobby of each of the two BECO Towers in Owings Mills. The company acquired the pair of 12-story, Class-A buildings totaling 330k SF in December 2012 when they were 53% vacant. Renovations are wrapping up, the first tower is fully leased, and the second one is very active, she tells us.
