Two Texas Hotels Rank Among The Best On The Planet

Austin and San Antonio have found themselves in rarified company on this year’s list of the “Best New Hotels on the Planet” from Travel & Leisure. San Antonio’s Hotel Emma and Austin’s South Congress Hotel took two of the top spots.

South Congress Hotel is an 83-room boutique hotel in the middle of one of Austin’s most tourist-friendly neighborhoods. It features a pool deck overlooking Austin, Chef Michael Paley’s Café No Sé, and a slew of salons, shops and specialty boutiques.

Hotel Emma eschews the tourist scene at the River Walk or Alamo and instead is in the Pearl Brewery development. Designed by Roman & Williams, the 148-room hotel pushes the hipster industrial-chic aesthetic with vaulted ceilings and exposed steel window frames.

The Emma also has vintage iceboxes in each room that hold the ingredients for margaritas. That really does sound like the best hotel on the planet. [T&L]
