A multinational transportation company is adding more than 300 new jobs in Peachtree Corners.
Hapag-Lloyd America, the division of German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd, is expanding its office presence in Gwinnett County's newest city with a $5.5M investment, adding 363 jobs to its service center with positions in administration, technical support and customer service.
Gov. Nathan Deal made the announcement Tuesday morning, adding that the move will place a majority of the non-sales tasks at Hapag-Lloyd in Gwinnett County. The company operates out of its 50K SF Peachtree Corners office building, which has a statue of an anchor in its front yard.
“It's the kind of jobs we want [for Peachtree Corners] because it's white-collar professionals who will live, work and play right here in the community,” Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason said.
Mason said the company would add the jobs to its existing real estate footprint in the city.
This is the latest in economic development coups for the region in 2018, and comes on the heels of railway giant Norfolk Southern announcing plans to move its headquarters from Virginia to a new facility in Midtown Atlanta being developed by Cousins Properties.
