A new location for Ikea in Burbank is underway. It is scheduled to be completed next spring at which time it will be the biggest Ikea in the US.

Now that Ikea will be leaving the Burbank Town Center, Crown Realty & Development and CAPREF Manager LLC are making plans to redevelop the shopping center, according to Curbed.

The JV is proposing 40k SF of new retail tenants, an open-air plaza and open space for possibly a farmers market and other uses.

The proposed mixed-use project would include 765 multifamily units (600 N San Fernando Blvd) and 70 for-sale units (800 N San Fernando Blvd).

A new campaign for the development has been launched under the name “I Heart Burbank.”

The JV would have to get city approval to build the project. [Curbed]
