The $18M redevelopment of the old Parkway Theatre in Station North Arts District continued this month with the demolition of the Chicken Box. Set to open in a year, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Parkway Film Center will house the new Maryland Film Festival office and hosts live music, lectures and other events, the Baltimore Business Journal reports.
Johns Hopkins University and the Maryland Institute College of Art will also use the 29k building for their joint film program. The Maryland Film Festival, whose signature weeklong event takes place this week, says it has raised $17M so far for the adaptive reuse project. [BBJ]
