Where are Dublin’s residential and other real estate sectors headed in 2022?

In a recent report, property website Daft.ie noted that demand for residential rental properties in Ireland’s capital has “clearly returned” after the disruption of Covid-19, with rents in Q4 2021 showing their greatest increase since early 2014. Housing sale prices, meanwhile, increased 7.7% in 2021.

“Covid-19 has shaken up Ireland’s housing market … but the underlying dynamic of weak supply given strong demand hasn’t gone away,” said Ronan Lyons, author of Daft.ie reports and an associate professor of economics at Trinity College Dublin. “While supply seems set to improve over coming years, easing pressure in the market, we will no doubt see more signs of a system under pressure before things turn.”
