Two towers, one with office space and one with condos, are planned for a single base of parking and ground-level retail right across from San Jose City Hall (shown above).
The owner of the 1.4-acre property, SJSC Properties (the US face of Beijing Damei Investment Co), bought the parcel for $12.8M earlier this year from the city's former redevelopment agency.
Plans call for a 28-story, 350-unit condo tower next to a 20-story, 350k SF office tower, the Silicon Valley Business Journal reports. Both would sit on top of a base with underground parking, about 20k SF of ground-floor retail and above-grade parking. As planned, it would be one of the city's tallest buildings.
The office tower is designed with flexible office space in mind that encourages collaboration and appeals to tech companies. The condos will range from 900 to 1k SF (not including the seven penthouses with nearly 2k SF each). Final plans for the site could go to the city for architectural review in a couple of weeks.
