D.C. food business incubator Union Kitchen is expanding its retail footprint with two new grocery stores.

Union Kitchen Grocery will open in Downtown D.C.'s One Franklin Square and in Ballston Quarter, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The One Franklin Square space will be 2,500 SF in the ground floor of the office building at 1301 K St. NW, where the Washington Post is based and where an Israeli co-working provider last month signed a 31K SF lease.

The lease at Forest City's Ballston Quarter redevelopment will be for 3K SF at at the corner of Wilson Boulevard and North Randolph Street. Forest City also last month unveiled a host of new dining options coming to the project's 25K SF food hall. Ballston Quarter will also feature a 25K SF Punch Bowl Social when the redevelopment delivers in September.

The grocery stores will feature a hot bar and salad bar and will carry products made in Union Kitchen, the food incubator based in a 24K SF commercial kitchen in Ivy City. They will be the third and fourth locations of Union Kitchen Grocery, which has existing stores in Capitol Hill and Shaw.
