Trader Joe's Signs On For First Loudoun County Location

A Trader Joe's In Saugus, Massachusetts

Loudoun County residents have long been clamoring for popular grocer Trader Joe's to open in the county, and it appears their wishes have now been granted.

The grocer has signed on at Ashburn's One Loudoun mixed-use development, local blog The Burn reports, citing recently approved building permits.

This would be the first Loudoun County location for Trader Joe's, which has nearby locations in Reston and Tysons. Over 1,900 residents have joined a Facebook page titled "Bring Trader Joe's to Ashburn, VA," showing the local desire for the grocer.

Trader Joe's would take over the former Fresh Market space in the retail-dominated downtown portion of the 360-acre One Loudoun development. Retail Properties of America in 2016 acquired downtown One Loudoun from developers Miller & Smith and North America Sekisui House for $163M.

One Loudoun also features tenants such as Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, World of Beer, Matchbox and Uncle Julio's. RPAI is looking to partner with a developer to add 20K SF of retail and up to 348 residential units. Miller & Smith is working on another 200-unit addition to the development.
