Bethesda-based commercial real estate finance firm Walker & Dunlop is shifting its headquarters down the street to a new high-rise office building.
Carr Properties announced Monday it signed a 59K SF lease with Walker & Dunlop at The Wilson, its new office development at 7272 Wisconsin Ave. in Downtown Bethesda.
Walker & Dunlop is moving about a quarter-mile from its longtime headquarters at 7501 Wisconsin Ave. into the 12th through 14th floors of the new office tower. The deal brings Carr's 363K SF office development to 100% leased.

"As a high-growth company that is known for its phenomenal customer service and vibrant corporate culture, Walker & Dunlop is extremely excited to create our new corporate headquarters in Carr's gleaming new building in Bethesda, Maryland."
Transwestern's Phil McCarthy, Keith Foery and Erin Kurucza represented Carr in the deal, while CBRE's Lou Christopher, Brad Wilner and Charlie Carroccio represented Walker & Dunlop.

The new office building is part of a 940K SF mixed-use development that also includes The Elm, a 456-unit apartment building, and 12K SF of retail. Carr has delivered the office building to tenants to build out their spaces, and the residential building will deliver early next year, Carr Properties CEO Oliver Carr told Bisnow.
The development was built on the site of the former Apex Building, one block south of the Bethesda Metro station and on top of the future Purple Line station. It is part of a wave of new trophy office construction in Downtown Bethesda that has drawn tenants from other parts of the area.
Carr has also signed office leases at The Wilson with WeWork, Enviva Partners, WTTG Fox 5, ProShares and UBS Group. Earlier this year it landed a retail tenant, Boston-based Tatte Bakery & Café, to occupy 4K SF.
