D.C.'s Fox affiliate is moving its studio, newsroom and office space out of its Northwest D.C. home to a new development in Downtown Bethesda.

WTTG Fox 5 has signed on for 57,500 SF at Carr Properties' Apex Building development, with plans to move into the new office building in Q2 2021.

The deal, first reported by the Washington Business Journal, was confirmed by the Montgomery County Economic Development Corp. Monday. Fox 5 currently occupies a 54-year-old, five-story building in Tenleytown. MCEDC said it would bring 200 new jobs to the county.

The lease represents the first coup for Carr Properties at the 7272 Wisconsin Ave. mixed-use development. After buying the 163K SF Apex Building in 2015, Carr worked with Shalom Baranes Associates to design the 27-story, 937K SF project. Demolition of the existing building began this summer, and Carr expects to complete the project in 2020.

The development is slated to include 460 residential units, 360K SF of office space, 15K SF of ground-level retail and a public plaza. It is being built above the future western terminus of the Purple Line, the 16-mile light-rail project that broke ground last month.
