Permits Issued for The Wharf’s First Office Building

The future home of the American Psychiatric Association is one step closer to breaking ground.

Permits have been issued for the 11-story, 227k SF office building at 800 Maine Ave SW. This marks the first vertical permit issued for an office building at The Wharf, the Washington Business Journal reports. The Class-A building was designed by Perkins Eastman and will include street-level retail. The APA signed on as the first major tenant at The Wharf this past summer and will occupy 63k SF of the building.

The office building at 800 Maine Ave SW is part of Phase 1 of the massive JV development at the Southwest Waterfront from PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette. Phase 1 of the $1.7B project is scheduled to deliver in 2017 and will include 1.4M SF of condos, apartments, two hotels, a 6k SF concert hall and offices. [WBJ]
