The ongoing battle between Adams Morgan residents and PN Hoffman over the redesign of the SunTrust Plaza has still not been resolved, but a new report comes as good news for the developer.
The DC Historic Preservation Office has recommended the review board approve PN Hoffman's most recent design for the plaza, Urban Turf reports.
This comes as a promising sign for PN Hoffman as it prepares to present the latest iteration of the project to the Historic Preservation Review Board.
The developer has been planning to turn the plaza, which sits on privately owned land, into a 60-unit condo building. Neighborhood residents have opposed the plan from the start, and in August they rejected the developer's compromise to create a smaller, 2,500 SF plaza, rendered above.
The developer, which has drawn nationwide accolades for co-developing The Wharf, then pulled its application to return to the drawing board, offering to reduce the building's height from six to five stories. The historic preservation office believes its latest plan has taken into account previous feedback and PN Hoffman hopes this compromise will prove successful. [UT]
