Walmart Canada last week marked the grand opening of three new Supercentres in former Target locations it acquired last spring: Coquitlam Centre Mall (116k SF), Delta’s Scottsdale Centre (115k SF) and Surrey’s Central City Shopping Centre (378k SF). Walmart also took over the abandoned Target space at Haney Place Mall in Maple Ridge. The new locations signal a vote of confidence in the provincial retail market, Walmart said, adding the projects represent a $20M investment and have created 500 in-store jobs and 450 construction jobs. BC now has 44 Walmart stores, including 38 Supercentres.
