Japanese clothing retailer UNIQLO announced this week it will be arriving in Toronto in 2016, opening locations at Eaton Centre and Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Canada’s first. Eaton Centre will house the 28k SF Toronto flagship; the Yorkdale location will be 24k SF. Since opening its first store in Japan in 1984, UNIQLO—a brand of holding company Fast Retailing Co—has expanded to 18 markets worldwide, with the Canadian stores marking its latest international foray. UNIQLO USA and Canada CEO Larry Meyer said the company plans to build on the two TO locations with “a presence in the lovely city of Vancouver.”
