Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan has paid $1.03B to acquire the Canadian wine business of Constellation Brands. Mississauga-HQ’d Constellation, with eight wineries and 163 Wine Rack stores in Ontario, boasts three times the market share of its closest Canadian competitor and owns seven of the country’s top 20 wine brands, including Inniskillin and Jackson-Triggs. Also this week Onex Corp confirmed its $1.36B purchase of the Save-A-Lot discount grocery business, a network of 1,370 stores in 37 states, the Caribbean and Central America.
