Loblaw Cos. will spend $1.3B this year to expand and improve its network of grocery stores and pharmacies.
The company said it expects to open 30 new stores and renovate 500 existing locations, many owned and operated by Choice Properties REIT.
Improvements include the continued rollout of click-and-collect e-commerce and more fresh food at Shoppers Drug Mart stores.
Loblaw has more than 2,400 locations employing 200,000, making it one of Canada’s largest networks of corporate and independently owned retail stores.
