Google Canada today will unveil its new national development team HQ, a 185k SF space at The Breithaupt Block in Kitchener (rendered above by Robertson Simmons Architects). The innovation centre, co-owned by Allied Properties REIT and Perimeter Development Corp, is housed in redeveloped buildings constructed in the early 1900s for a rubber manufacturing facility. Google, which came to Waterloo Region in 2005, has a 34k SF space at Kitchener's Tannery building, but its workforce has rapidly expanded. Thursday’s event will showcase Google's virtual reality technology, developed in Kitchener-Waterloo.
