Dream Outlines Canary District’s Post-Pan Am Plan

Dream and Kilmer Van Nostrand Co have sold 87% of the condo units at the former Pan Am Games athletes’ village—an $800M development being converted into its final use, the Canary District, including a YMCA and George Brown College student residence. And with Stage 2 lands having been transferred to the partnership in Q4 (for $25.5M each), Dream said in its earnings report that it expects to develop another 1,000 market condos and 20k SF of new retail at Canary District, in addition to the 30k SF of retail that came with Stage 1, now 78% leased. Among those on the health and wellness-focused roster: Dark Horse Espresso Bar, The Running Room and Think Fitness Studio.
