Mini-Burger Joint Eyeing Miami Entry

It's meaty, just 2.8 ounces and it's headed to Miami. Someday.

An international chain of mini-burger restaurants called Burgerim (pronounced Burger*Rim) has its sights set on Miami for an entry. Timetable is unknown, but it's part of a larger Southeast rollout of eateries that include Memphis, Atlanta, Dallas and Houston, as well as Southern California, says Keller Williams' Charlie Gonzalez, who is helping a Burgerim franchisee open locations in Atlanta.

Coined as a gourmet mini-burger restaurant that also serves beer and wine (sort of like an adult Krystal), this California-based chain now has 170 locations across the globe, including in Romania, Germany, Russia, UK, Indonesia, Australia and Singapore.

Each burger is only 2.8 ounces, but they come in 15 different flavors, company officials say. Charlie tells us typical locations range from 800 SF to 2,500 SF, "with a sweet spot of 1,500 SF."

It's set for 7:30am Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel with panelists such as JugoFresh founder Matthew Sherman, LeFrak's Michael Tillman, SBE's Thomas Meding (above), Trust Hospitality CEO Richard Millard and Commune Hotels & Resorts CEO Niki Leondakis (info and tickets here).
