Starbucks To Develop Visitor Center At Its Costa Rican Farm

Starbucks Corp. is planning to open a 46K SF visitor center at its farm in Costa Rica next year, with the goal of providing the coffee giant's customers a look at how the Siren Retail premium brand comes to be in their cups.

Starbucks acquired the 600-acre Hacienda Alsacia farm in the Central American nation in 2013, and has maintained it as a working coffee farm, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports. Starbucks' in-house design team, which also worked on the company’s Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle, designed the visitor center.

“This visitor center allows us to create a connection between the people that grow the coffee, the role our farm plays in helping to ensure their economic stability and the stores that roast and brew it for our customers," said Siren Retail Group president Cliff Burrows.
