Macerich Lines Up Big Retail Expansion at East Bay's Broadway Plaza

Macerich's expanded and redeveloped Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek has 45 retailers signed on.

The 1951 open-air shopping center is growing by 315k SF and adding new parking and new finishes with the update and redesign. Anchor tenants are Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Macy's. Macerich is replacing about 80k SF of retail space and two older parking structures.

Tenant Macy's also is expanding 57k SF to include a men's department and renovating several other departments. The redesigned 247k SF store is set for completion next month. Macerich plans to open two new buildings and part of the new parking garage for the holiday shopping season. The grand opening is set for spring 2016.
