Equity Residential’s One Henry Adams could be the future site of a Wagyumafia, a Tokyo-based restaurant that specializes in high-end beef products. The restaurant, which sells a Wagyu beef sandwich for $180, is planning to expand into San Francisco in 2018, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Wagyu beef is flown in from Japan each week, which is why it costs so much.
High-end restaurants with expensive menu items have been opening up across the Bay Area. Hiroshi in downtown Los Altos, which opened in June, does not provide a menu, serves eight people per night and costs upward of $400 per person.
Equity Residential’s 241-unit apartment complex in the Design District has already signed a lease with restaurant owner Kash Feng for three new restaurants. He will open a Japanese yakiniku steakhouse, a fast-casual udon restaurant and a Japanese butcher shop during the fourth quarter. These restaurants will join The Grove, which opened in April.
