An expansive shoreline project in San Leandro could hit the ground running next summer. San Leandro community development director Cynthia Battenberg told the city council the plan, 10 years in the making, is moving forward. The plan now needs state and city approvals, reports the East Bay Times.

Plans submitted by Cal-Coast Development of Los Angeles earlier this month propose a large redevelopment of 40-acres along Monarch Bay Drive. The project will include a 200-room hotel, a 16k SF restaurant, 8k SF restaurant, 150k SF office building, a three-story 468-space parking structure, and an 8k SF mixed-use building with café, fishing shop, kayak rental and storage space.

Plans also call for the later development of a 160-unit complex north of Mulford Point over a ground-level 231-spot parking garage, and four condominium buildings with a total of 66 units over a 109-spot parking garage.

The development doesn’t stop there. It will add a city library, 92 townhouses and 42 single-family homes, a two-mile public promenade, two community parks with recreational areas, floating boardwalks, and potentially a public dock and a beach with a point. [EBT]
