Update: The Scramble for the "Psycho" Building

The City of Phoenix, which owns the historic property at Jefferson Street and Central Avenue, put out a new RFP for its redevelopment after a previous deal with P.B. Bell Cos and Davis Enterprises fell through, and there are eight new bids.

The previous plan would have seen the property become apartments and ground-floor retail. Both P.B. Bell and Davis, acting separately this time, are among the bidders.

The building dates from 1915, and is best known for making an appearance in the 1960 film Psycho. [PBJ]
