We stopped by Cassidy Turley's beehive of a booth and snapped senior managing director of property management Rob Cord, chief marketing officer Gayle Matthei-Meredith, CEO Mark Burkhart, VP of retail property management Joan McCarty, senior managing director of property management Bill Grillo, and VP of corporate communications Maureen Wheeler. At the show, the brokerage released a new retail report (compiled by chief economist Kevin Thorpe, not pictured): Nationally, net demand for retail space has been trending up and vacancy has stabilized at 10.9%. Regional recovery is lagging though; vacancy in top-tier regional markets hit bottom in 2010. And while many Class-A centers are reporting rent growth this year, secondary and tertiary markets still face anemic demand.

After a long day on the show floor, some parties, writing, and editing, we stepped out for a late dinner at Sushi Samba with PR maven Mira Matic (she took the picture, insisting we have proof of life). And the dollar bills? Well, that’s what national real estate editor Sibley Fleming had remaining after gambling away $5 on the slots (and that’s not short for $50 or $500). New York star reporter Amanda Marsh was a little luckier: She had a dollar left after winning $78 and buying several cups of $4 coffee and $6 Red Bulls in the casino lobby of the Wynn to power her late night RECon writing marathons.
