After a two-year hiatus, Bisnow's annual event honoring some of the most powerful women in New York City commercial real estate is back for 2022.

In total, 48 women are on the honoree list from all corners of the industry, selected by a steering committee that considered nominees' efforts to advance the industry amid the challenges of the last few years, as well as their commitment to New York City’s recovery. The committee was composed of BentallGreenOak's Abbe Franchot Borok, RXR Realty's Whitney Arcaro, Hunton Andrews Kurth's Laurie Grasso and Invesco Real Estate's Lesley Lisser.

While the number of women in real estate has grown every year, it is still a largely male-dominated industry — particularly in the boardrooms and at the executive level. Women made up 23.5% of the highest-ranking executives at the country's largest commercial real estate firms, according to Bisnow’s industry analysis in 2021.

Nevertheless, individual women continue to make their mark on New York as the city faces its toughest economic challenges in a generation. The names chosen reflect the evolving face of the industry as it works to drive the city's recovery forward. Bisnow will be celebrating these honorees at the New York Women Leading Real Estate cocktail event on Wednesday, Sept. 28. While the event is sold out, more seats might be made available in the coming days.
