A Rendering Of The Shops And Restaurants At Hudson Yards

Hudson Yardsfood offerings grow more diverse by the day as Related Cos. and Oxford Properties Group have landed a British eatery chain for its highest space.

The company known as rhubarb runs a sizable chain of restaurants and event spaces across England, including 4,000 seats in London alone, and its first locations outside of the country will be in two spots in Hudson Yards, the New York Post reports.

The top floor of the 92-story, 1,296-foot 30 Hudson Yards will be a 10K SF venue for rhubarb, with half the space containing a 150-seat restaurant and bar facing Midtown, and the other half to be an event space facing New Jersey. The restaurant will also manage an indoor-outdoor bar on the 91st-floor observation deck, which will be the highest outdoor observation area in the city when completed.

Related and Oxford's 720K SF retail building, to be called The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards, anchored by a 250K SF Neiman Marcus, will also house a 5,800 SF rhubarb location on the fifth floor. The restaurant will join offerings from luminaries Thomas Keller, Jose Andres and David Chang. The building is 70% leased, though much of the leases are predicated on Neiman Marcus, whose financial difficulties have led Related to consider drastic measures to preserve the deal.

Both 30 Hudson Yards and the Shops and Restaurants are projected to deliver in 2018. The 2.6M SF office tower has signed Wells Fargo, KKR, Time Warner (including HBO) and Norwegian lender DNB ASA as tenants. Time Warner stands as the biggest occupant at 1.5M SF. KKR's 300K SF will take up the 10 floors below the observation deck and rhubarb.
