Howard Hughes Corp's Caryn Kboudi (right, with colleague Michelle Waak) says Pier 17, where South Street Seaport's major building redevelopment is underway, is fine, but the smaller pier northwest of it needs foundation work. Also part of a proposal that has to make its way through ULURP: HHC will take apart the historic Tin Building, move it from under the FDR, put it back together (higher than the flood plane), and fill it with a seven-day food market. To finance it all, as well as TBD plans to keep a South Street Seaport Museum there, the company has proposed a tower (potentially residential, hotel, and more retail).

Alliance for Downtown New York's Stephanie Jennings (snapped with Jarrod Grim) told us the org projects $5.2B in annual spending Downtown from the current 310,000 workers, 60,000 residents, and tons of visitors. That bodes well for the 1.3M SF of retail coming online in '14 and '15.
