| Kohl's Department Stores' new store prototype has achieved LEED Gold pre-cert by using the LEED for Retail: New Construction rating system—the first company in the US to get it. The program was launched in November '10. Starting in spring 2012, all new Kohl's stores will use this LEED Gold prototype. More than 90 newly constructed Kohl's stores nationwide have earned certification at either the Silver or Certified level, with nearly 20 more expected in the coming months. The goal: 300 total LEED certs by the end of '12 and500 by '15. Its Rego Park, Queens store is certified LEED for Retail: Commercial Interiors Gold. |
