Meatpacking Sales Record to Break with $200M TIAA-CREF Buy

TIAA-CREF is in contract to buy 837 Washington Street for a Meatpacking District, the New York Post reports. Joe Sitt’s Thor Equities bought a 75% stake in the 63k SF building in 2011 for $55M. Taconic Investment Partners owns the rest. Samsung has been the tenant of the entire building, using it as an office space and showroom. Rents have been reported at around $125/SF for the office portion and $450/SF for the ground-floor retail space. TIAA-CREFF wouldn’t say whether any meat would be packed in the building.
