Fresh off last week’s unveiling of the Tesla Model 3, today Elon Musk and SpaceX reached a new milestone, launching a rocket and then landing it eight minutes later on an automated drone ship in the Atlantic.
Along with sparking enthusiasm for the final frontier, Musk hopes the landing could be the start of a new era in space—one that includes affordable, reusable rockets. The innovator said as much on Twitter:
