We caught up with SolarWinds product management VP Chris LaPoint when he was in town meeting with the Austin, Texas-based company’s federal team. Chris shared federal trends the company is watching: the bigger role that network virtualization is playing in IT convergence and the challenge it’s posing for IT administrators used to managing just a physical network. Also, when it comes to BYOD, too many federal IT managers are focused on the actual devices and not paying attention to how much bandwidth a whole new set of devices sucks up on a network. Fun fact about Chris: He spent some of his childhood living on one of the Marshall Islands, where his father worked on US defense testing.
