Infosys To Add 10,000 U.S. Jobs As Trump Targets Outsourcing Firms

IT services firm Infosys announced plans to hire 10,000 U.S. workers over the next two years to fend off growing criticism of companies that displace American workers.

The company also said it will open four technology centers in the U.S., with plans to open the first in Indiana this August, Reuters reports. Infosys in one of several outsourcing firms that have come under fire from President Donald Trump for flying in foreigners rather than employing Americans. Other firms that have been targeted include Indian players Wipro and Tata Consultancy Services. Trump has indicated he will take steps to penalize companies that harm American jobs.

The U.S. is the largest market for Indian software service companies. Experts said ever since Trump instructed federal agencies to review the H1-B visa program, which allows companies to fly in workers on temporary visas, these outsourcing firms have drastically increased U.S. hiring.
