Is Amazon Launching A New Clothing Line?

If recent job postings are any indication, Amazon could be launching a fashion line very soon. According to a job ad, the e-commerce juggernaut is looking for a senior sourcing manager for its Amazon Fashion Private Label team.

Amazon's also looking for someone to handle inventory and relationships with vendors, a move that would reinforce Amazon's foothold in the apparel industry.

The online mega-retailer, which has already decimated traditional brick-and-mortar chains, has invested in fashion since 2006, when it acquired Shopbop. And last year, Amazon VP Jeff Yurcisin hinted at the possibility of an in-house clothing label.

“When we see gaps, when certain brands have actually decided for their own reasons not to sell with us, our customer still wants a product like that,” Yurcisin said. [Refinery29]
