NAREIT Honors 10 for Sustainability Efforts

NAREIT this week announced the 10 winners of its annual Leader in the Light Awards, which honor member companies that have demonstrated superior, portfolio-wide sustainability practices. Macerich (its property, The Oaks in Thousand Oaks, CA, above) won for the retail sector, while the residential sector award was presented to AvalonBay Communities. Boston Properties and Kilroy Realty were jointly recognized in the office sector, while Prologis won for industrial. Host Hotels & Resorts (which along with Macerich also just made the Climate A list) and Hersha Hospitality Trust won for lodging and resorts, while HCP nabbed the healthcare aware. Vornado snagged the diversified category, and British Land Co won the global award. [NAREIT]
