The world’s biggest retailer is removing any items that feature the Confederate flag from its shelves and store website. Yesterday’s announcement from Walmart comes in response to the horrific shooting deaths of nine people at a black church in Charleston, S.C. The suspect has appeared in photos online holding the Confederate battle flag. Walmart said its goal is not to offend anyone with the products it sells. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has stated that the flag should be removed from State House building, while a top Mississippi lawmaker has called for the removal of the emblem from that state's flag.
