The California Coastal Commission is officially opening a public accessway to one of Malibu’s most exclusive coastlines on Tuesday. Nicknamed “Billionaire’s Beach,” the 1.5-mile stretch of Carbon Beach has been the subject of a lengthy legal dispute between public access advocates and a wealthy homeowner who refused to build a path. According to state law, public beach access is guaranteed up to the mean high tide line, reports WRAL.com. The area is known for its beautiful shoreline and as home to several high-net-worth individuals, including former Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and entertainment tycoon David Geffen. [WRAL]
