On Monday, construction workers at Tesla’s Gigafactory near Reno, NV, walked off the job in protest of Tesla’s use of third-party, non-union workers, reports say.
Depending on the report, anywhere from 100 to 350 union workers left their jobs to protest Tesla’s contract with Brycon Construction, a non-union contractor, Business Insider reports.

A local labor union organized the strike in light of the $1.4B in tax incentives Tesla received from the State of Nevada to build its factory. The argument goes that Tesla should hire more Nevada residents, considering the company uses large sums of public money.
But Tesla says it's hiring more than enough locals. The law only requires at least 50% of employees be from the state, yet the electric car company says over 75% of the Gigafactory workforce consists of Nevada residents. [BI]
