Trump Administration Eyes General Growth CEO Sandeep Mathrani

General Growth Properties CEO Sandeep Mathrani met with Donald Trump Monday, and there's speculation the president-elect is looking to Sandeep to fill a role in his administration.

This would not be the first CRE expert Trump has considered for a Cabinet position. Last week the president-elect was in talks with Blackstone Group's head of real estate, Jonathan Gray, about the treasury secretary post. And let's not forget Trump's push to get top secret clearance for his son-and-law and CEO of Kushner Cos Jared Kushner.

While it’s unclear whether Mathrani met with Trump specifically to discuss a potential gig in his administration, that's most of the speculation, Crain's reports. Mathrani is the highest-paid REIT CEO, earning $39.2M last year, so leaving the private sector may entail a large financial sacrifice. [Crain's]
