The Real Estate Behind The Richest Men And Women In The World Part 6: Alice Walton

The only daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, this heiress is one of the richest women in the world with a net worth of $34B. Alice Walton, unlike her siblings, hasn't taken an active role in her father's company but has instead amassed an impressive collection of art and real estate over the years. Check out Bisnow's top picks.

Rocking W Ranch

Walton owns a 1,456-acre ranch 45 miles west of Fort Worth, TX, and while she used to raise horses there, today she's looking to sell. After selling off her horses she put it on the market for $19.75M in September 2015, and since it has yet to sell Walton reduced the price by 16.5% in May.

Rocking W Ranch Property

Apart from the 1,456 acres, Rocking W Ranch boasts hay and equipment barns along with a 24-stall horse barn, making it a real working horse ranch. When it comes to human lodgings, the property houses a 4.1k SF three-bedroom home, complete with Venetian plaster walls, mesquite floors and sycamore and cherry cabinets. The grounds include additional guest and staff residences.

Brazos River Ranch

Not as well known as the Rocking W Ranch, Walton is also selling this 4,416-acre ranch along the Brazos River in Texas for $28.7M. This property has 8.5 miles of frontage along the river and includes a 4.3k SF lodge complete with three bedrooms and three baths. Both the unnamed ranch and the Rocking W include significant mineral, water, oil and gas rights.

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

In search of a home for her vast art collection, Walton teamed up with Israeli architect Moshe Safdie to build a museum in her hometown of Bentonville, AR. The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art includes 217k SF of galleries and opened in November 2011. Thanks to Walmart's $20M sponsorship, admission is free.

Crystal Bridges Museum Collection

Walton's Crystal Bridges Museum holds impressive collections of art, including pieces such as Asher B. Durand’s iconic 19th-century landscape, Kindred Spirits, with the total collection valued at more than $488M in assets. As such, it's the first major art museum to open in the United States since 1974. The museum celebrated its millionth visitor 21 months after opening and ArtNews added Walton to its list of the world's 10 most important art collectors shortly thereafter.
