CHI St. Luke's Health announced it purchased 23 acres last week to develop a medical campus in Springwoods Village, the hot Houston master-planned community where Exxon is building a 3M SF campus. Springwoods developer CDC Houston EVP Keith Simon tells us master-planned communities around Houston are courting medical users for two reasons: First, hospitals are great employers. In Houston, it's the second-most dominant industry behind oil and gas. And then of course, it's an amenity to residents and employees; Keith says integrating healthcare into Springwoods Village is an important part of its overall vision and creating a complete community.
