TOMORROW'S AMAZING BISNOW EVENT

Don’t ask how we landed these living legends for tomorrow morning’s Bisnow Capital Markets Breakfast & Schmooze at the NY Bar Association. (No, it wasn't a deal with the Devil. Even he's sitting out of real estate deals till things warm up.) You can join the 224 attendees already signed up for this amazing event!
Keynoting is Ethan Penner, left, prez of CBRE Capital Partners. His resumé includes being one of the youngest partners at Morgan Stanley—where he headed its mortgage finance operation—and founding The Capital Company of America, where he pioneered the use of US capital markets to originate CRE loans.
Panelist Arthur Sonnenblick is a senior managing director at Cushman & Wakefield Sonnenblick Goldman, where he served as president from ’78-’87 and CEO from ’78-’95; he also served as partner and member of the board at Lehman. We snapped this earlier this month at the Foundation for Accounting Education’s annual RE conference, where Arthur said he expects another 100 banks to go under over the next two years, and another three to five years before a recovery we’ll be happy with. We guess those aren’t rose-colored glasses.
Shorenstein Properties managing director Mark Portner, right, who’s also a panelist, is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and closing capital transactions for his firm in the Eastern US, with a particular focus on NY, DC, and South Florida. We snapped this photo of Mark (right) with colleague Andrew Goodman in ’08. Keep an eye on Shorenstein; the firm’s currently investing in its ninth fund, which has committed equity in excess of $2B.
Joining Arthur and Mark is Woody Heller, who heads Studley’s capital transactions group. He’s responsible for investment sales activity in NY, where he focuses on office, residential, and specialty retail. One of the most prominent in his $6B of asset and note sales was the sale of Citigroup Center. Most recently, his group repped the Malloy and Sheffer families in the sale of 515 Madison’s majority interest to the Gural and Hemmerdinger families, which valued the building at $150M.
Moderator David Dubrow, who co-chairs Arent Fox’s business department, will keep the conversation going. He’s a pro in real estate finance, acquisition of mortgage loans, and tax-exempt finance, and has repped clients in the acquisition of over $10B in real estate loans. Workouts and bankruptcies are also his forte, with clients like Drexel Burnham, Lehman, United Airlines, Delta, and Orange County. Since our panelists have you convinced to join us tomorrow, sign up here.
